View of the Centre from Ninomaru Park

You can see a spit that called Tomoe-zaki or Magarizaki. The spit has 1.5 km length and 40-100m width. The spit has about 100m intertidal zone coposed by boulders.

View from Honmaru

You can see tombolo, which connects Tomioka peninsula and Amakusa-Shimoshima Island (see maps). The righthand side of the landbridge shows Amakusa-nada and the lefthand shows a part of the Tomioka bay in the movie. The channel between Shimabara peninsula and the north part of Amakusa-Shimoshima is a mouth of the Ariake sea ("Ariake-kai").
